IVL in Action

General Action Orientations

The overall tenets of IVL can be summarized in the following "action orientations." The actions below represent key teacher orientations in all aspects of working with students.

  • Assess meaning and relevance as related to context
  • Explore and examine ethical dimensions of all knowledge and precepts
  • Raise efficacy and understanding through knowledge of interrelationships, interdependence, patterns and principles that connect
  • Expand and question perceptual frames and mental models and consider their influence on creativity, innovation and problem solving capacities
  • Consider contexts of time, scale and place
